Leeds Area Chamber Hosted 30th Annual Creek Bank Festival
The Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce hosted its 30th Annual Creek Bank Festival on Saturday, May 24. The festival had been postponed from its original date of May 17 due to the threat of rain.
There were dozens and dozens of vendors at the event where festival-goers could purchase crafts, learn about area businesses and non-profits, and even get a mini-massage. There were also a large number of food vendors providing a variety of international and domestic dishes and cold sweet treats with something for just about everybody!
The entertainment lineup kicked off with Heath Green and Adam Guthrie, new to Creek Bank and ready to energize the crowd. Other performers at the festival included singer/songwriter/instrumentalist Lynnox Poe, and Miss Leeds Area, Samantha Hennings, who graced the event with a beautiful vocal performance. Terry Padgett, back by popular demand, provided an excellent Elvis tribute to wow the crowd.
The Hula Hoop Competition sponsored by Bob Watkins Realty was a whirlwind of excitement and fun! Participants of all ages showcased their skills and dazzled the crowd with their impressive moves. From beginners to seasoned pros, everyone brought their A-game to the competition. There was a lot of energy as contestants twirled, spun, and danced to the beat of the music. Congratulations to the winning hula-hooper, Jillian Huckeba.
A tail-wagging good time was had at the dog pageant, sponsored by Mum & Me Mercantile LLC! From adorable outfits to impressive tricks, the furry contestants stole the spotlight and captured everyone’s hearts. It was a battle of the barks as our canine companions strutted their stuff in several categories. Congratulations to the winners who paw-sitively dazzled the judges with their charm and charisma! The winners were: Gwennie, Best Small Dog; Jack, Best Large Dog; Charisma, Best Costume; and Goose, Best Overall. The winners received a medal and a chew toy. Also, thank you to Chick-fil-A, who donated gift cards for the winners’ owners.
The Creek Bank Festival hosted a hotdog eating contest sponsored by Stephen’s Hotdogs and More. Cheers and applause filled the air as contestants devoured their hotdogs. It was a race against time and a battle of appetites as competitors vied for the title of Hotdog Eating Champion. Congratulations to Police Chief Paul Erwin, who chowed down on five hotdogs in the allotted time.
Other highlights included face painting (sponsored by The Shops of Grand River), balloon art (sponsored by Mills Pharmacy), bounce houses, pony rides, and a petting zoo. The Cruising the Creek Bank Car Show, sponsored by C & C Motor Co., drew over 280 cars and raised over $7K for Backpack Buddies and Leeds Outreach.
